Many East Asian noses are short and low,
so in rhinoplasty the tip must be lengthened and raised appropriately
for an attractive nose.

SEHYUN ANSWER

With upturned nose surgery,
isn't it a success as long as the tip is brought down?
Isn't it fine as long as the nostrils don't show?

Sehyun's answer is NO

Upturned nose surgery is planned by examining why the nostrils are exposed.
An upturned nose, where the tip turns up and the nostrils are visible from the front,
has a nasolabial angle (the angle between the tip and upper lip) of 105 degrees or more,
and while these noses look similar, there are many structural reasons why the nostrils are exposed.

So if surgery simply brings the tip down without analyzing the cause,
satisfaction with the result tends to be lower.

CASE

Upturned Nose Correction by Structural Cause

CASE 1

When the nasolabial angle is large (the most common cause): Sehyun's cartilage repositioning

Here the nasolabial angle is larger than normal, so the nose is short and the nostrils show from the front.
With Dr. Yoo Hyun-seok's cartilage repositioning method, the tip cartilage is repositioned downward to adjust the length and angle of the nose.
If the upturn is severe, a septal extension may be performed.

CASE 2

When the alar base sags downward

Through a minimal incision inside the nostril, the sagging alar base is raised to an appropriate position and the excess skin is removed.

SEHYUN AESTHETIC CLINIC

Effective correction of short noses and long noses with drooping tips

For a short nose, the cartilage is repositioned downward to lengthen the tip, and for a long nose with a drooping tip, the cartilage is repositioned upward to effectively adjust the length of the tip.

For short, upturned noses

If an upturned nose is corrected improperly, alar retraction can become worse, so proper surgical planning is needed.

SEHYUN AESTHETIC CLINIC

Sehyun's surgical results are backed by
Dr. Yoo Hyun-seok's 20+ years of experience as a physician.

Performing rhinoplasty for 20 years or more means treating a truly wide range of cases.
One patient came to us for a 7th revision after other clinics said surgery would be difficult,
and others came to us with recurring problems after a clinic had used rib cartilage for what was only their 2nd revision.

I don't believe any case is impossible.
Some cases, however, need more research and careful thought.
For stable, consistent results, Sehyun keeps researching and studying every day, and performs each surgery carefully based on a plan.

Q&A

Q.Is short nose surgery just a matter of lengthening the tip downward?
A.

Not only the length of the nose and facial proportions but also the direction of the tip cartilage and its support structure must be considered. When the tip cartilage is repositioned, we plan to reinforce the structure supporting its new position, and the extent of correction is decided based on the condition of your nose.
