Lower Eyelid Fat Repositioning

Lower eyelid fat repositioning, as the name suggests, moves the fat under the eyes to a new position. It also tightens the muscle holding the fat and anchors the fat beneath the periosteum to prevent recurrence.

Under-eye fat removal, on the other hand, simply removes clumped fat. The procedure is simple, but removing too much fat can make the under-eye area look more sunken than before, so the surgeon needs to judge whether it is really the right surgery for you.

If the eye area has lost elasticity and the under-eye skin is loose and bulging, lower blepharoplasty may be more suitable.
Depending on under-eye elasticity, skin laxity and the depth of the tear trough, lower blepharoplasty lifts loose skin and muscle
and removes excess skin for a firmer, smoother under-eye area.

When reading reviews, it is a good idea to look at the under-eye contour and whether any area looks overly sunken, as well as the descriptions of recovery and how long the results last.

We generally advise that daily activities can resume 2–4 days after surgery, but recovery speed varies from person to person. Some swelling or bruising may remain even after you return to daily activities, and the tissue needs more time to settle.

During recovery, it is important not to rub the eye area hard and to rest well. Avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise, and start wearing eye makeup only after your recovery has been checked.

We assess bulging under-eye fat, hollow areas, tear trough depth and skin elasticity together. If the under-eye area is puffy with a sunken trough, moving the fat to even out the contour may be considered; the specific surgical plan is decided through diagnosis.
