Hump Nose Surgery

Implant-free rhinoplasty, which uses only your own autologous tissue, smooths the hump flat and then mainly uses dermis, cartilage and other tissue suited to the structure of the bridge and tip.

For a mild hump, the protruding part is shaved down through a minimal incision inside the nose to smooth the contour.

If you want to raise the bridge while correcting the hump, implant-free rhinoplasty or silicone can be used to correct the height and direction of the bridge and tip.

If the hump is long or 2 mm or more in height, correction with osteotomy is needed.

Note that if the hump is not properly removed before silicone is added to raise the bridge or the tip is lifted to correct a drooping tip, the bridge can become too high, or the area between the brows can be raised more than necessary, resulting in a so-called "lion nose."

That is why hump correction should be performed by a skilled surgeon who can properly remove the hump and raise the bridge and tip without overcorrection, so that a satisfactory result can be expected.

If the hump is large and severe, shaving it down leaves a gap in the bridge.
In this case, lateral osteotomy is needed to bring the outer nasal bones on both sides toward the center and close the gap.

It may sound difficult, but in the hands of a skilled surgeon, lateral osteotomy takes about 10 minutes and is not complicated, and a crooked nose can be corrected at the same time if present.
