What Is Upper Blepharoplasty?
Upper blepharoplasty corrects drooping eyelids by removing
loose eyelid skin, muscle and fat pads.
With age, the dermis that supports skin elasticity becomes thinner, and the eyelids droop more easily.
When drooping becomes severe, it can block your vision and leave the skin at the outer corners of the eyes sore and raw, so upper blepharoplasty may be needed for functional as well as cosmetic reasons.
The surgery improves firmness around the eyes with a combined approach: removing loose skin and removing or reinforcing fat, muscle, subcutaneous tissue and swollen tissue.

Won't upper blepharoplasty make my expression look harsh?
It is not uncommon for the eyes to look unnatural or the face to look harsh after upper blepharoplasty.
Rather than upper blepharoplasty itself being the problem, this may happen when an unsuitable method is used without properly assessing the patient's eyelids.
People with severely drooping eyelids also have a lot of skin to remove.
However, eyelid skin is thicker above and thinner below, so if too much skin is removed at this border,
the thick and thin skin meet and the thicker part covers the thinner part,
creating an unnatural, awkward eyelid crease.
That is why, when eyelid drooping is severe, we perform a sub-brow lift.
Drooping skin is lifted through an incision below the brow to improve sagging,
and if needed, this is combined with an incisional double eyelid procedure to create a smooth, natural-looking eyelid crease.

STEP 01
When sagging is limited to the eyelids
The excision line is marked according to the preoperative plan.
Loose skin, muscle and other tissue are removed with minimal excision.
We remove excess subcutaneous tissue, including fat, and reshape the area.
The incision is sutured meticulously and without rushing to avoid noticeable scarring.

Q.How long is recovery after upper blepharoplasty?
The surgery information lists a return to daily activities 3–4 days after surgery and stitch removal after about 7 days. Recovery speed depends on your eyelid condition and the scope of surgery.
In the early days after surgery, you may have swelling, bruising or a tight feeling in the eyelids. Your eyes may need more time to settle, so minimize irritation around the eyes and rest well.
